How To Stop Phobias – Hypnotherapy Helps
How can Hypnotherapy cure Fears and Phobias?
Hypnotherapy is probably the most effective form of mind therapy designed to help people to find their own answers to their problems, by using hypnosis to access the all-powerful Subconscious, which is where our permanent memory is stored.
Those of us who use hypnotherapeutic techniques never claim to ‘cure’ anything, otherwise the advertising standards authority would come down on us like a ton of bricks! Rather we talk about ‘helping the person to overcome their problems’.
Fear or Phobia?
I generally don’t use the word phobia. Instead I prefer to talk about ‘fear’, because phobia is just another word for a big fear. Our belief system can mostly cope with the idea of overcoming a fear much more so than a phobia, which has come to represent something far more scary!
As with all emotional problems, Hypnotherapy safely and gently eliminates the emotional roots and self-limiting belief systems in the subconscious mind.
How do we develop Phobias?
It is a little known fact that 80% of our emotional problems are in place by the age of 5 or 6, and the remaining 20% by the end of our teenage years. What seems like a ridiculously small and insignificant fear to us as adults can seem like a gi-normous fear to a tiny baby or a very small child. It’s all related to size!
What Phobias have you treated?
Fear of Flying, driving, heights, water, being outside, driving on motorways, lifts, escalators, spiders, snakes, being sick. … the list is endless. Fear of dying is a big one for many people!
What is the Subconscious Mind
Imagine the subcon as the hard disk of a computer, working 24/7, constantly storing experience – both good and bad – in files and folders.
When I am working with a client, I will be looking for what we call the ISE, or Initial Sensitising Event. What may have started as a tiny bit of fear, not in any way related to the client’s presenting problem (for example, the baby who was frightened when left alone in a dark room), can grow over the years, as the subcon continues to store every fear that is felt by us throughout our life, until the Fear Folder is overflowing.
At some point, there will be what we call a Sympton Producing Event, such as having a bad experience on a flight (turbulence or a bumpy landing, for example) and this will then be stored in the fear folder, and may eventually result in fear of flying.
What does the process involve?
Once we have relaxed and bypassed the conscious or critical part of the mind, we can then access the subconscious, which is where we store our negative thoughts, feelings and beliefs
I use a very powerful System of Hypnotherapy called 5-PATH®, which is a highly advanced and modern form of hypnotherapy. 5-PATH® is a systematic, almost universal approach, designed to remove all the barriers caused by negative programming. By reframing or neutralising the damaging perceptions and limiting belief systems, we can all be successful in doing everything we came into this world to do.
Is Hypnotherapy Successful?
The important factor here is to find a well-qualified Hypnotherapist with whom you feel comfortable and at ease. Take your time to do some research, and even speak to some of them on the phone and ask questions about how they work. After all, a course of Hypnotherapy is a significant investment and you want to be sure you’re getting the right advice to invest wisely.
I can confidently say that the majority of my clients are successful in completely overcoming their fear, in a matter of just a few weeks, not months and certainly not years!
